William Michael Hardy was born April 16, 1952 to William and Evelyn Hardy of Sylacauga, Alabama. On December 1, 1984 his first child whom he would call Michael Blake Hardy was born. Mike Hardy would have one more son by the name of Jarrod Wesley Hardy who was born July 13, 1988. What Mike Hardy didn't know at the time was how much of a challenge parenthood was going to be. From the time one of his sons (not going to say which one it was, cough* Blake cough*) ordered 600 dollars worth of pornographic movies over Direct TV's pay-per-view. Sorry again about that one Dad, at least I ain't gay. Or the one time when his younger son threw a large rock at the older son in anger with the end result being broken glass everywhere on the sun room floor. Then there was the time when Jarrod broke several window panes while practicing golf in the front yard. Not to forget that both sons wrecked two vehicles plus managed to get themselves arrested at two separate times. Maybe we were inadvertently striking out for grounding us so much even though looking back and realizing we totally deserved it. At the time when my father uttered those famous words, "You'll understand why I'm doing this when you get older son" we both figured he was just smoking crack but dammit if i don't get it now. It was not all discipline with him though. He taught us how to fish, hunt, shoot, play baseball, football, golf (badly), drive, and fight. Turns out Mike Hardy was just the stubborn, corny, socially embarrasing, strong, caring, mentoring father figure that both his sons needed.
